Welcome to the Sharrocks Lab. Molecular mechanisms of eukaryotic transcription factor function. My lab is studying how transcription factors function at the molecular level and how they link to cellular signaling pathways. As model systems, we are investigating members of the ETS and Forkhead transcription factor families and how these act in concert with other transcription factors and coregulators to control gene expression.

We investigate the fundamental workings of the mammalian heart as well as hearts from a range of other vertebrate species including tuna, trout, turtle, caiman, zebrafish, armored catfish, varanid lizard, rat and hamster. Survival of all these animals depends on maintenance and regulation of cardiac function over a range of environments. We try to understand this across levels of biological organisation.

Welcome to the Turner lab. Is focused on the plant cell wall, particularly cellulose. Biosynthesis, and on vascular tissue development. We are interested both in fundamental research and in applying our knowledge to generate more biomass with an improved composition that will facilitate its commercial exploitation.
